Basketball is a game that requires an intense level of confidence. You have to feel that you are
as good, if not BETTER than your opponents. One easy way to gain that comfort level is to do
what many players neglect to do:

Get Comfortable Using Both Hands!

Being able to utilize both hands on the court provides you with a comfort that cannot be
attained by having only one strong hand. Plus, it propels you past the average ball player who
doesn't put in the time and effort to strengthen his/her weak hand. A serious basketball player
should take the time to shoot, dribble, pass, and even defend using both hands.

One way to strengthen your opposite hand is to utilize your weaker hand during daily
activities. Here are a couple of opportunities for you to strengthen your weak hand without
stepping foot on the court:

1. Brush your teeth using the opposite hand.
2. Comb your hair using the opposite hand
3. Change the channel on the remote control using the opposite hand
4. Open all doors using the opposite hand
5. When using the phone, dial and hold the phone with your opposite hand
6. ADVANCED - Eat dinner with the opposite hand
7. ADVANCED - Write the alphabet once a day using the opposite hand

Over time, you will get use to utilizing both hands. In addition to these everyday activity
adjustments, you should dedicate a section of training time on the court to strengthening your
opposite hand. Begin form shooting before practice with your weak hand. Also, complete a set
of dribbling drills with your strong hand behind your back. When enduring a set of suicides,
work on touching the line with your weak hand as well. This will help you strengthen the weak
hand for defensive purposes, like keeping a hand in the passing lane.
